SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Ryan Adams and Gabbi Jennings have been named the Southern Conference men’s and women’s cross country runners of the week, respectively, for all competition between Sept. 11-17.

Adams picked up his second win of the season at the weather-delayed Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on Saturday, crossing the finish line with a time of 24:53.8 in the 8k race. The senior led the way as the Paladins took the top nine spots and scored a perfect 15 points.

The weekly award is the second of Adams’ career.

Jennings also grabbed her second win of the season at the Eye Opener Invitational, finishing with a time of 17.10.7 in the 5k race. She dominated the field, finishing 24 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Jennings helped the Paladins, who took the top 10 spots and scored a perfect 15 points, to a second team victory of the season.

The weekly award is the third of Jennings’ career.

Furman will compete next at the Queen City Invitational on Sept. 27 and the Oregon Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 28.
