CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel cross country teams finished competition in their inaugural Charleston Classic Collegiate this Saturday morning.
The Citadel men took fourth place overall in a field of five teams by a score of 90 with Bulldogs scoring in 6-18-21-22-23.
Graduate transfer Colin Martin was the top finisher for the Bulldogs for the third consecutive race, placing 6th overall with a final time of 26:535..
Freshman Lane Johnson would take 20th place in the field, running a new personal best of 27:49.3. Jeremy Shipley, Devin Heisler, and Francis O'Brien rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs taking 29th, 30th and 31st, respectively.
The Citadel women took fourth place overall in a field of six teams by a score of 99 with Bulldogs scoring in 8-16-24-25-26.
For the third race in a row, Sophomore Amber Opp was the top finisher for the Bulldogs, placing 9th overall with a final time of 19.12.1.
Casey Miller would be the next Bulldog to cross the finish line with a time of 20.26.5, taking the number 22 spot.
The Citadel finished the meet ahead of South Carolina State and Savannah State. The South Carolina Gamecocks would take the number one spot with a final team score of 27.
