BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell rising junior Jere Heino will represent Finland in the 2017 World Championships in Paris, France.

Heino will compete in the 125 kg (275 pounds) weight class on Aug. 25.

Heino was one of a school record five Camels to earn a berth to the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Missouri, in March. The then-sophomore took runner-up in the heavyweight division at the Southern Conference Championships, helping Campbell take its first-ever conference title.

The Helsinki, Finland, native went 26-10 overall, going 14-2 in dual competition and 6-1 against SoCon opponents.

Heino’s older brother, Ville, another Campbell product and 2017 alum, will also represent Finland in the 2017 World Championships at 86 kg.

Campbell will also be represented by head coach Cary Kolat at the World Championships. Heading into his fourth season with the Camels, Kolat was named co-head coach for the United States Women’s Team.
