SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga wrestler Bryce Carr has been named the Southern Conference wrestler of the week for all competition from Nov. 3-7. The selection is made by the league office.
Carr, a senior from Dublin, Georgia, opened his 2017-18 season going 5-0 and winning the Hokie Open at 184 pounds.
The reigning Southern Conference champion at 184 pounds began the weekend by registering a pin in just 39 seconds against VMI on Saturday. On Sunday, Carr went 4-0 in the Hokie Open with two decisions, a major decision and a technical fall.
In 2016, Carr was the No. 13 seed in the NCAA Championship, losing in the second round to Oklahoma State’s Nolan Boyd. Carr is currently ranked No. 12 in the nation at 184 pounds, according to Intermatwrestle.com
This marks the second time in his career that Carr has been named SoCon Wrestler of the Week (Jan. 4, 2017).
Chattanooga returns to the mat on Nov. 17 when it hosts Virginia Tech.
Also nominated: Austin Kraisser (Campbell), Sawyer Root (The Citadel), Aidan Conroy (Davidson), Tyler Marinelli (Gardner-Webb) and Christian Dulaney (SIUE).
