GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro men’s golf sophomore Nick Lyerly has been named to the Division I PING All-Region East Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America has announced.

During his sophomore season, Lyerly posted the best stroke average in program history (71.47) while helping lead UNCG to back-to-back Southern Conference Championships for the first time ever and a trip to the NCAA Stanford Regional.

An All-SoCon selection for the second straight year as well, Lyerly won the individual championship at the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate – one of four tournament titles for the Spartans as a team this year – along with finishing tied for first place at the SoCon Championship before falling in a two-hole playoff to ETSU’s Shiso Go.

Lyerly also finished in second place at the UNCG Grandover Collegiate, finishing at 3-under to help UNCG win its annual fall tournament for the fist time.

Through two seasons, Lyerly is only one of two UNCG golfers to win at least a share of three individual championships since moving to the Division I level, along with J.D. Bass (2003-07).
