SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Cameron Green has been named the Southern Conference men’s tennis player of the week for all matches played Feb. 6-12, the conference announced Tuesday. Greene went 2-1 at No. 1 singles and was 2-2 at No. 2 doubles with Drew Singerman. The Paladins, who are 6-1 this season, are on a four-match win streak.
The senior started the week with a three-set loss to Alexander Lykou of Presbyterian on Feb. 7, falling 6-2, 4-6, 3-6. Green rebounded with two wins in two days, starting with a 6-2, 6-3 decision over College of Charleston’s Benedikt Henning on Feb. 10. Greene followed that with a win on Feb. 11 over UNC Asheville’s Henry Patten, downing the No. 32-ranked player in straight sets (6-4, 6-2).
In doubles competition, the Sydney, Australia, native finished the week 2-2 as the Paladin’s No. 2 pair defeated duos from Presbyterian (6-2) and North Greenville (6-2) and fell to College of Charleston (2-6) and UNC Asheville (4-6).
Furman is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 17, with a match against Belmont and the first Southern Conference match of the season against The Citadel.
