CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Sophomore Mickael Trintignac led the College of Charleston men's tennis team in singles action as he advanced to the Round of 32 at the ITA Carolinas Regional this weekend. The Cougars tallied six wins in singles and doubles competition.

Trintignac, who paired with junior Mickael Boyer in doubles and defeated a team from Coastal Carolina to advance to the Round of 32, faced Rafael Altmayer of Gardner-Webb in the first round on Friday morning. After swiftly defeating him 6-3, 6-1, Trintignac moved on to meet Andrew Crone of the host UNC on Friday afternoon. In a thrilling match in which he came back from being down a set, Trintignac earned a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory.

In the Round of 32, Trintignac stayed close ninth-seeded Iain Atkinson of Wake Forest before eventually falling 6-4, 6-4.

"Trintignac always shows up ready to compete and has been working extremely hard this fall to take advantage of his opportunities in the tournaments," said College of Charleston head coach Jay Bruner.

Junior Lukas Koncilia played a close first set against Davidson's Joe Schafer before yielding a 6-4, 6-2 decision. He rebounded in the consolation match on Saturday by defeating South Carolina's Ivan Cressoni 6-2, 6-2.

Freshman Kyle Parker battled conference foe Phillip Kloc of Appalachian State in the first round of singles play, falling 6-1, 6-4.

Boyer, who had advanced to the Round of 32 alongside Trintignac in doubles, managed to push Furman's Andrei Chvetsov to a third set before dropping a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 decision. He went on to beat UNC Charlotte's Mike Anders, 6-2, 5-7, 10-8, in the consolation round the next day.

The Cougars return to Patriots Point Tennis Center where the team will host the Charleston Invite next weekend.
