Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel tennis team fell, 4-3, to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Thursday afternoon at the Earle Tennis Center.

Sophomore Josh Cook was first to tally a point for the Bulldogs. Cook was paired against Coastal Carolina's Dmitry Vlaskin and won in a tiebreaker, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3). Tripp Larkin collected the second point when the Chanticleers' Dorian Sovic retired his match. Sovic won the first set, 6-3, but then Larkin took the second set, 6-4 and led 3-1 in the third, before Sovic put down his racket.

All-SoCon performer Yufo Sutantio rallied for a point in a thrilling three sets. Sutantio defeated Coastal Carolina's Plamen Tzvetkov, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. In other singles action, freshman Luis Morett fell, 6-3, 6-4, to the Chanticleers' Peter Billingham in his collegiate debut. Alberto Diaz dropped to Coastal Carolina's Alex Funkhouser, 7-6, 6-1 and David Orces fell, 6-2, 6-2, to the Chanticleers' Matt Gordon.

The Chanticleers swept the Bulldogs in doubles beginning with Larkin and Diaz's 8-1 loss to Coastal Carolina's Vlaskin and Tzvetkov. The Chanticleers' Sovic and Funkhouser defeated Cook and Dickey, 8-4, while Sutantio and Orces fell, 8-6, to Coastal Carolina's Gordon and Billingham.

The Chanticleers improve to 1-1 while the Bulldogs fell to 0-1.

Coming up next, The Citadel will travel for their only night match up against SEC foe Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. on Wednesday, February 3 at 6:30 p.m.
