GREENVILLE, S.C. - Furman senior Katarina Kozarov and sophomore Julia Adams have been invited to compete in the 2019 ITA Women's All-American Championships, which will be held Oct. 5-13 at the LaFortune Tennis Center and Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.  This season marks a first for the Paladin program as two Furman individuals will compete at the championships.

The ITA preseason national rankings were also released on Tuesday, and Kozarov earned a 46th-place ranking in singles, while Adams and Kozarov were ranked 35th nationally in doubles.

"It is a big honor to have two players earn bids for singles and doubles at All Americans," said Furman head coach Adam Herendeen.  "Katarina and Julia both had incredible summers and could not be more deserving of these rankings and this opportunity."

Kozarov, a native of Novi Sad, Serbia, was one of only 48 players to earn an automatic bid for the main singles draw at the championships.  The 2018 and 2019 Southern Conference Player of the Year, she put together a 21-3 record at flight one singles last season and was a perfect 7-0 in league play.  A first team all-conference selection for both singles and doubles, she earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA singles championship as the highest ranked singles player in the league, marking the first time a Paladin competed at the NCAA championship since 2011.  Kozarov concluded her junior campaign ranked 67th nationally.

Adams, who hails from Knoxville, Tenn., will compete in the pre-qualifying singles draw.  Ninety-six players will compete for 12 spots available in the qualifying singles draw.  The 2019 SoCon Freshman of the Year, Adams put together a 20-4 overall singles record last season, playing primarily at flights two and three, and recorded a 6-1 mark in league play.

Kozarov and Adams are one of 64 teams to compete in the qualifying doubles draw.  Eight spots will be awarded to the main draw from the qualifying teams.  The Paladin duo, which rose as high as 40th in last year's national rankings, combined for a 17-4 overall record and 6-1 SoCon mark at flight one doubles in 2019.

The pre-qualifying singles matches will be held Oct. 5-6, with qualifying singles and doubles matches scheduled for Oct. 7-8.  The main draw singles and doubles competition will occur Oct. 9-13.
