HARROGATE, Tenn. – The ETSU women’s tennis team picked up their fourth sweep of the season after taking down Lincoln Memorial 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex. The Bucs improve to 5-4, while LMU drops to 5-2.
Alejandra Morales (Santiago, Chile) and Esther Guemes (Madrid, Spain) got things started for the Bucs with a 6-1 win at the No. 3 doubles spot. Raquel Amaro (Caracas, Venezuela) and Yi Chi Ma (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) clinched the doubles point for ETSU after earning a 6-4 win at the No. 1 spot. Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga (Basauri, Spain) and Yunuen Elizarraras (Cuernavaca, Mexico) kept the Bucs perfect with a 6-4 win as well.
Amaro earned her seventh win of the season and played in the No. 3 spot for the first time this season. She defeated Julia Valls 6-2, 6-1. Morales won 6-1, 6-4 over Johanna Delisse at the No. 1 spot, which she also played in for the first time this season. Yi Chi Ma clinched the match for the Bucs with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 5 spot. Pascual-Larrinaga won her seventh match of the season at the No. 2 spot with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot. Elizarraras defeated Julia Loos 6-3, 6-2 and Guemes finished the feat for the Bucs with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the No. 6 spot over Amanda Dahlstrom.
ETSU returns to action this Sunday, Feb. 24 when they take on SEC opponent, Tennessee. The match is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
