SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford’s Cassidy Hicks has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played April 9-15, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Hicks finished out the regular season with a win on senior day, helping Wofford to a narrow 4-3 win over Western Carolina. With the win, the Terriers locked up the No. 3 seed for the upcoming Southern Conference Championship, held in Macon, Georgia, April 18-20. The No. 3 seed is the highest seed in program history.

Hicks earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Western Carolina’s Jacy Smith at No. 2. The win was her 11th of the season and third consecutive. Earlier in the match, Hicks and her partner, Jenna Vroman, took down Jordan Strickland and Savannah Taranto 6-0 in the top spot. The win was the 14th of the season for the duo, moving them into a tie for most doubles wins in a single season in program history. The pair sits atop the conference at 6-1 in league play.

As the No. 3 seed, Wofford faces No. 6 Mercer in the first round on April 18 at 10:30 a.m.

Also nominated: Raquel Amaro (ETSU), Katty Weymouth (Furman), Alara Hollyfield (Mercer) and Erika Barquero (UNCG) and Natalie De Ugarte (Samford).
