SoCon announces deal with Slipp-Nott

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference and Slipp-Nott have reached an agreement that will make Slipp-Nott the Official Traction Mat of the Southern Conference through November 2018.

Slipp-Nott traction mats will be in use at the Southern Conference Basketball Championships presented by General Shale in each of the next three seasons in Asheville, N.C. This year’s tournaments are slated for March 3-7 with all of the men’s and women’s contests being played at the U.S. Cellular Center. Each contest will air live on ESPN3 with the exception of the men’s title game, which will air live on March 7 at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.

Since 1987, Slipp-Nott Corp. has set the world standard for indoor traction and our products can be seen used at most televised basketball games.

The Southern Conference, which is in its 95th season of intercollegiate competition in 2015-16, is a national leader in emphasizing the development of the student-athlete and helping build lifelong leaders and role models. From establishing the first conference basketball tournament (1921), to tackling the issues of freshman eligibility (1922), to developing women’s championships (1984) to becoming the first conference to install the 3-point goal in basketball (1980), the Southern Conference has been a pioneer. The Southern Conference is the nation’s fifth-oldest NCAA Division I collegiate athletic association. The conference currently consists of 10 members in six states throughout the Southeast and sponsors 20 varsity sports and championships that produce participants for NCAA Division I Championships.
