KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Four Southern Conference men's soccer teams and four women's teams were among the 778 soccer teams (291 men, 487 women) that posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 academic year. Mercer and Wofford were among the 195 schools that had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
