SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference has entered into a broadcast representation agreement with Collegiate Sports Management Group. CSMG will assist the SoCon in evaluating the broadcast landscape and potential partners as it works toward its next broadcast contract.

“We are excited to be working with CSMG to provide expertise with the broadcast industry and related opportunities,” Southern Conference Commissioner Jim Schaus said. “They have a keen understanding of the marketplace that will serve beneficial to our future planning.”

Celebrating its 99th season of intercollegiate competition, the SoCon consists of 10 members in six states throughout the Southeast and sponsors 22 varsity sports and championships that produce participants for NCAA Division I Championships. In 2018-19, the SoCon produced the Walter Payton Award winner (top offensive player in the FCS) in Samford quarterback Devlin Hodges, who set the FCS career record for passing yards, and the Lou Henson Award winner (top player from a mid-major conference) in Wofford shooting guard Fletcher Magee, who set the NCAA Division I record for career 3-point makes. Two SoCon men’s basketball teams appeared in the national rankings in the same season for the first time since the 1959-60 season, and Wofford’s Mike Young was named the Sporting News Coach of the Year.

“We are excited to partner with the executive leadership of the SoCon, to aid in driving exposure and revenue for the conference,” said Michael Schreck, Chief Executive Officer of Collegiate Sports Management Group. “This collaboration will allow for both CSMG and the SoCon to expand our combined expertise, capabilities, contacts, knowledge and services,” added Schreck.
