SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga senior Megan Woods has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Feb. 28 to March 6. The selection is made by the league office.
A native of Spring Branch, Texas, Woods averaged a 72.3 over three rounds, finishing tied for sixth overall in the North Florida Collegiate on Tuesday. After shooting a 74 to begin the tournament, it was Woods’ second-round 70 that moved her up the leaderboard. The senior would finish with a third-round 73, helping the Mocs finish second as a team.
Woods, who was also named the SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week, has tied two ranked golfers and beaten six others in the last two weeks. The senior leads the team in pars with 37 and is tied for the lead in par-3 scoring (-1).
Chattanooga has this weekend off but next competes on March 16 in the Hawkeye El-Tigre Invitational.
