BYSTRICE, Czech Republic – The Blue and Gold were well represented overseas in the LET Access Tour this past weekend with two Buccaneers, one current and one former, making strong appearances on the leaderboard June 14-16.
Rising ETSU sophomore Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) finished T-2 in the 2018 AXA Czech Ladies Challenge with an eight-under-par (208) showing.
Melecka, who was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman squad for the ETSU women’s golf team this past season, led the first of three rounds in the tournament with a low score of 67. Melecka also had the best placement among players from Czech Republic, fairing well in her home country.
In her debut season with ETSU, Melecka won in just her third event as a college player. She carded a 10-under at the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo. this past fall, helping the Bucs to a second place team finish.
Also representing the Bucs in the tournament was former ETSU women’s golf standout Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria), who golfed for the Bucs from 2008-11. Muehl placed T-13 by shooting four-under-par (212).
Muehl’s best round at the Czech Ladies Challenge was her third and final round, finishing strong with a 69 to tie the leaders for that round.
Muehl is one of ETSU’s most decorated performers in history, as she earn All-Conference honors for three consecutive seasons and represented the Bucs in two NCAA National Championships as an individual. Muehl also fired the lowest round in NCAA Division I play for the 2009-10 season with a 64 in the first round of the East Regionals in Greenville, N.C.
The AXA Czech Ladies Challenge involved 131 participants with 48 making the cut.
