SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Laila Hrindova has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition Oct. 30 – Nov. 5. The selection is made by the league office.
Hrindova capped off the fall season with a third-place showing at the Idle Hour Collegiate on Nov. 4-5, ending her tournament with an overall score of 3-under-par 213. The junior from Poprad, Slovakia, opened with back-to-back scores of 70 (-2) to put her in second heading into the final day. Hrindova carded a final-round score of 1-over 73 to secure sole possession of third. As a team, the Bears finished second in the field of 16 teams.
The weekly award is Hrindova’s first of her career.
Mercer will return to the course for the spring season on Feb. 21, when the Bears host the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational at The Landing Golf Course in Greensboro, Georgia.
