The game will take place Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. CT. The Bulldogs earned their bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Southern Conference Tournament, held last week in the Pete Hanna Center.
"Kansas is one of the top seeds in the tournament, and we knew we were going to draw one of those teams," Samford head coach Keylor Chan said. "It's another opportunity. We talk about opening doors, and once those doors are open, what we do with that opportunity is up to us."
Samford posted a record of 21-13 this season. The team earned wins over Wofford, ETSU and Chattanooga to win the SoCon Tournament. Senior Erin Bognar was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. This marks the third time Samford has reached the NCAA Tournament, achieving the feat in both 2011 and 2014.
"This is something that's fun," Chan said. "It's the next step in the process of trying to continue to build our program."
Kansas finished the 2016 regular season with an overall record of 26-2. The Jayhawks won the Big 12 Conference title with a record of 15-1 in conference play.
