LEXINGTON, Ky. - Samford setter Taylor Anderton and ETSU outside hitter Leah Clayton were named to the AVCA Division I southeast region team.
Anderton led the nation in total assists with 1,512 for the season. She also ranked 25th in the country in assists per set, averaging 11.12 per set. For her career, Anderton, a first-team All-SoCon performer, finished with 3,824 career assists, the fourth-highest total in program history. She helped lead the 2018 Samford volleyball team to the Southern Conference Tournament title with a 3-1 win over regular-season champion ETSU, earning the program's fourth NCAA tournament bid.
Clayton finished the 2018 season with 503 kills, ranking 17th nationally. She led the Bucs with a 4.02 kill per set average, while also averaging 2.75 digs per set. The Danville, Va. native registered 16 double-doubles and was named the 2018 Southern Conference Player of the Year. Clayton and the Bucs received the SoCon's first NCAA at-large bid in league history.
