SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman goalkeeper Kellsey Weaver has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Sept. 25-Oct. 1 after recording back-to-back shutout victories against Mercer and The Citadel.

Weaver, a sophomore from Newman, Georgia, racked up eight saves in a 1-0 win at Mercer on Friday. With time dwindling down, Weaver came up with a pair of diving saves to help preserve the lead for the Paladins. On Sunday, Weaver turned away three shots at The Citadel as Furman once again was victorious 1-0.
Furman returns home this weekend, hosting Wofford on Friday before welcoming Western Carolina on Sunday.

Also nominated: Alexius Hill (Mercer), Heida Vidarsdottir (UNCG), Korrie Sauder (Samford), Amy Horney (VMI), Deyana Walker (WCU) and Hayley Younginer (Wofford).
