SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG women’s soccer player Cienna Rideout has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Nov. 1-Nov. 7, the league office announced Wednesday.
Rideout, a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nevada, scored two goals in UNCG’s semifinal upset over No. 2-seeded Samford on Friday. Rideout scored the game-tying goal in the 73rd minute and volleyed home the game-winner in double overtime to advance the Spartans to the Southern Conference Championship final, where UNCG would go on to defeat Western Carolina 1-0 on Sunday.
Rideout, an information and supply chain management major, holds a 3.79 grade point average.
