COVERCIANO, Italy – Former ETSU standout Eleonora Goldoni and current Buccaneer defender Elena Pisani were selected for the Italian U23 national team camp for May 6-10.
Goldoni and Pisani will begin camp with the squad this week at the national team training base in Coverciano, Italy.
“We are extremely proud of both Leo and Ele,” said ETSU women’s soccer head coach Adam Sayers. “They both take great pride in representing their country, and it’s obviously great for our program when any of our players are selected for their national teams. They are both very deserving, and I’m sure they will do very well.”
Goldoni, who graduated from ETSU this past Saturday, finished her last season this past fall by helping the Bucs make the Southern Conference semifinal as the No. 3 seed. She ranked fourth in the SoCon in points (20), points per game (1.33) and goals (eight) and was third in goals per game (0.53).
The Ferrara, Italy, native has etched her name all over the ETSU record books. She is the all-time leader in career goals with 36 while ranking second in points (82) and shots attempted (197) and third in shots on goal (99).
In three of her four seasons at ETSU, Goldoni earned all-conference honors with first-team selections in 2016 and 2018 and a second-team pick in 2017. She also had strong academics at ETSU with multiple academic all-conference selections and a SoCon Student Athlete of the Week accolade from 2017.
Pisani, from Milano, Italy, is one of three returning juniors that will become seniors this season and looks to bolster the backline again this upcoming season. Like Goldoni, Pisani also has national team experience with Italy’s U17, U19 and U23 squads.
Pisani has started games in all three seasons for the Bucs, including 18 appearances and 17 starts this past season. She finished with one goal and one assist on 10 shots and four shots on goal, while anchoring the center back position.
