NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – ETSU junior outfielder, David Beam was named The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) Rookie of the Year Tuesday afternoon.

 

Throughout the summer, Beam played for the Mystic Schooners in Groton, Conn. He was third on the team in batting average (.357), third in RBI (26), and second in stolen bases (14) over the course of 36 games played.

 

Beam ranked fifth in the league with a .444 on-base percentage and was in the top-10 in batting average. The Knoxville, Tenn. native, finished with 46 hits in 129 at-bats with 35 runs scored.

 

Last season for the Blue and Gold, he started in all 44 games hitting .275 and ranked third on the team in slugging percentage (.383) and on-base percentage (.374). Beam was one of 16 ETSU players that participated in summer ball this summer.
