GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Thirty-three home games, including five contests at Greenville's Fluor Field and clashes against Clemson, South Carolina, and Georgia highlight Furman's 2010 baseball schedule, which was released today by Paladin head coach Ron Smith.

Furman will open the season on Friday, Feb. 19 when it entertains Michigan State at Fluor Field in a 4:00 p.m. game. The next day the Paladins face Miami University, also a Fluor Field, before wrapping up a challenging first weekend at Clemson on Sunday, Feb. 21.

Furman's first home game at Latham Stadium is slated for Feb. 24 versus Charlotte, beginning a season long eight-game home stand that includes a three-game series against Ohio (March 5-7).

Defending Southern Conference regular season champion Elon (March 12-14) will provide the opposition in Furman's first league series of the 2010 campaign, kicking off another seven-game home stretch that features a March 16 clash versus South Carolina at Fluor Field and three-game series against Davidson (March 19-21).

A March 23 date against Presbyterian in Clinton initiates a season long nine-game road swing for the Paladins, who also play at Georgia (March 24).

Furman will later play host to PC at Latham Stadium on April 14 and again on April 22 at Fluor Field.

Clemson comes to Greenville on May 11 to face Furman at Fluor Field.

The Paladins wrap up their 30-game SoCon schedule with a road series at UNC Greensboro (May 21-23).

The 2010 SoCon Tournament is scheduled for May 26-29 at Charleston's Riley Park.

Furman posted a 24-31 record a year ago under Smith, who is entering his 16th year at the helm of the Paladin program.
