Milligan named men's soccer Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the second straight week, UNCG goalkeeper Jon Milligan has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Sept. 25-Oct. 1 after recording two shutouts for the Spartans.  

The junior from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, totaled five saves on the week. Against ETSU, Milligan turned away two shots as the Spartans tied the Bucs 0-0. On Saturday, Milligan totaled three saves as UNCG handed nationally-ranked Furman its third loss of the year and first conference lost, defeating the Paladins 2-0. 

Milligan, who has not allowed a goal in five games, and UNCG host Wofford on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Also nominated: Nick Spielman (ETSU) and Trenton Whitely (Mercer).
