SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Belmont forward Ares Marlonsson has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition Oct. 1-7.
The Bruins tied UNCG 2-2 in double overtime in their first-ever Southern Conference match on Saturday. Marlonsson scored both of the Bruins’ goals off his only two shots of the game. The Denver, Colorado, native had the first two-goal performance at Belmont since Oct. 6, 2015.
Belmont continues conference play Tuesday, Oct. 9, at home against Furman and then travels to Wilmington, North Carolina, on Saturday to play UNCW in one last nonconference game.
