SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference will host its 2019-20 Basketball Tip Off on Monday, Oct. 7, at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina. All 10 league men's head coaches and all eight women's head coaches will be on hand to meet the media and preview the upcoming season.
The women's coaches will be available to the media from 9:30-11:30 a.m. A reception and luncheon will follow, with the men's coaches available to the media from 1-3:30 p.m.
There are two new head coaches on each side, with Samford's Carley Kuhns and Western Carolina's Kiley Hill joining the ranks of the women's head coaches, while on the men's side, Greg Gary assumes head coaching duties at Mercer and former Terrier assistant Jay McAuley takes over for defending champion Wofford.
Southern Conference Commissioner Jim Schaus will also be available to the media at the event.
As part of the luncheon, Schaus and Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission President Demp Bradford will address the league's coaches, media, local organizing committee and sponsors.
Last season saw Mercer's women earn their second straight SoCon tournament crown and claim their fourth straight regular-season title.
On the men's side, Furman and Wofford both appeared in the national rankings, Wofford won its first-ever NCAA tournament game and UNC Greensboro was the top seed in the NIT.
Tickets for the 2020 Ingles SoCon Basketball Championships presented by General Shale will go on sale Nov. 1. The 2020 edition of the tournament will be the 100th, as the SoCon championship is the nation's oldest collegiate basketball tournament.
