No. 22/23 Davidson 68, West Virginia 65

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Five good minutes from Stephen Curry was enough to get No. 23 Davidson a 68-65 victory over West Virginia on Tuesday night in the Jimmy V Classic.

The nation's leading scorer managed to make one of his first 13 3-point attempts before taking over the end of the game, scoring 13 of the Wildcats' last 15 points.

A preseason All-American who became a national story during Davidson's run to the final eight of the NCAA tournament last season, Curry looked more like himself in making his final three shots from behind the arc. The last of those three 3s gave the Wildcats (7-1) the lead for good at 64-62 with 39 seconds to play.

He finished with 27 points, 4.3 below his average, on 9-of-27 shooting, including 4-for-16 from 3-point range. Curry entered the game shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from behind the arc.  He added a game-high 10 assists

Andrew Lovedale added 15 points, while Ben Allison chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds for the Wildcats.

Da’Sean Butler scored a team-high 24 points for West Virginia, while Darryl Bryant and Devin Ebanks each scored 13.  Ebanks added a game-high 16 assists for WVU, which outrebounded Davidson, 52-29

The Wildcats return to action Saturday (Dec. 13) when they host Chattanooga in the league opener for both teams.
