SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its 2018-19 women’s basketball league schedule Friday afternoon. The SoCon’s eight women’s basketball teams will all play double-round-robin, 14 game intraleague schedules, totaling 56 league contests. Conference play begins on Jan. 10 as Wofford and Furman host Western Carolina and UNCG, respectively.
In total, 24 conference games take place in January and 28 in February. Most conference matchups are set for Thursday and Saturday, with an occasional game set for Wednesday, Friday or Sunday. After four conference showdowns in March, the regular season concludes on Saturday, March 2.
The Southern Conference Basketball Championship presented by General Shale will be held March 7-10 at U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, North Carolina. Tickets will go on sale Thursday, Nov. 1.
Mercer is the SoCon’s defending regular-season and tournament champion.
Full broadcast schedules will be announced later, but all eight schools’ home games will air on either ESPN3 or ESPN+ if not selected for national or regional broadcast.
The 35th season of Southern Conference women's basketball opens Nov. 6 with four teams – Chattanooga, Samford, Western Carolina and Wofford – in action. Furman and UNCG get underway on Nov. 7 and ETSU and Mercer follow on Nov. 9.
