SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Amanda Thompson has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Dec. 5-11. The selection was her second this year.
Thompson tallied a career-high nine field goals and tied a career high with 18 points and had eight rebounds against Florida State. She had 10 points and seven rebounds against Charlotte as the Bears went 1-1 on the week. She finished a combined .519 from the field, knocking down 14-of-27 attempts from the floor. The senior was also honored as the SoCon women’s basketball player of the week on Tuesday.
The Hayesville, North Carolina, native is an electrical engineering major and currently holds a 4.0 grade point average.
The Bears are back on the court Dec. 18 when they travel to Washington, D.C., to take on Howard University.
