SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG forward Cienna Rideout has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition Oct. 1-7.
UNCG went 2-0 on the week with a 1-0 win over Furman and a 6-2 victory against Wofford. The Las Vegas, Nevada, native scored goals in both wins and added an assist against the Terriers to record five points on the week. Rideout netted the lone goal and game-winner in the 55th minute to top the Paladins on Friday. Two days later against Wofford, the junior scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season in the 21st minute to tie the game. In the 51st minute, she assisted on Kaley Tucker’s goal that put the Spartans up 5-1 en route to the 6-2 win.
UNCG is off to a perfect 5-0-0 start in Southern Conference for the fifth time and first since the 2010 season, outscoring conference opponents 18-3 in the five victories. Rideout is in the top five among SoCon players in seven statistical categories, including first in game-winning goals (five), goals (11), goals per game (1.0) and points per game (2.27). She is the third UNCG player to take home player of the week honors this season.
After hosting the last two contests, UNCG hits the road to play at Western Carolina on Oct. 12 and at ETSU on Oct. 14.
