SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman goalkeeper Kellsey Weaver has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Oct. 16-22 after posting two shutouts and helping the Paladins clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SoCon Championship.
Furman traveled to Chattanooga on Friday, where Weaver turned away a pair of shots to lift the Paladins to a 1-0 victory. The sophomore from Knoxville, Tennessee, continued her dominant play against Samford, registering four saves as the two sides tied 0-0. Weaver has a record of 9-1-2 on the year and leads the Southern Conference in both save percentage and goals against average.
After winning the No. 1 seed over Samford via tiebreaker, Furman will host the winner of Wednesday’s first-round match between No. 8 seed ETSU and No. 9 seed Wofford on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
