SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman women’s cross country runner Allie Buchalski has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Oct. 25-31, the league office announced Wednesday.
Buchalski, a senior from Johns Creek, Georgia, paced the field at the 2017 SoCon Championship on Saturday with a time of 16:23.40 in the 5K. Buchalski was crowned the SoCon Women’s Runner of the Year for the third time and was named first-team All-SoCon for the fourth time in her career.
Buchalski, who became the fourth woman in the history of the SoCon to win three league titles, helped lead the Paladins to their fifth straight SoCon Championship. Majoring in business administration, Buchalski holds a 3.65 grade point average.
