SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer running back Tee Mitchell has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Sept. 26-Oct. 2.
The senior running back helped to lead Mercer to a 48-38 road win over VMI on Saturday. He had a career-best 25 carries and three rushing touchdowns while running for a season-high 129 yards. Mitchell currently leads the conference in rushing with 416 yards. The Jacksonville, Florida, native has run for 100-plus yards in three of five games this season and is averaging 5.0 yards per carry with five touchdowns.
A marketing major, Mitchell holds a 3.66 grade point average.
The Paladins are off next Saturday and return to action on Oct. 13, hosting Wofford.
