DENVER, Colo. – Mercer men’s lacrosse alum Mike Nugent secured a spot on the Denver Outlaws’ 25-man roster, as announced by the team on Monday. Nugent is Mercer’s first alumnus to play for a Major League Lacrosse or National Lacrosse League team.

Nugent is one of seven newcomers to Denver’s roster for the 2017 MLL regular season. The Outlaws’ regular season will begin on April 22 as the team travels to take on the Charlotte Hounds.

While at Mercer, Nugent was a four-year starter and a three-time All-Conference selection. He is Mercer’s career leader in saves (641) and holds the top four spots on the single-season list. The Milton, Georgia, native is also the Bears’ career leader in wins (21), save percentage (54.5) and goals-against average (10.57).
