2008 FCS Coaches Poll
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 1, 2008
The Bison, after piling up 453 total
yards to the Governors’ 91 total yards, picked up 13 first-place votes and 671
total points. The Mountaineers, after being unanimous No. 1 in the preseason
poll, secured 12 first-place votes and 664 total points.

this week is Western Illinois, which narrowly lost to SEC member
The poll continues to be dominated by
three conferences, the Colonial Athletic Association, Missouri Valley Conference
and the Southern Conference. The CAA has six teams, including four teams in the
top 10, in the poll. The MVC also has six teams with the Bison leading the way
at No. 1. The SoCon has five teams ranked with Wofford and The Citadel picking
up wins this past weekend.
The FCS Coaches Poll is based
exclusively on a voting panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation
of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football
Coaches Association (AFCA)
and is administered by the Southern Conference. Two head coaches from each of
the 14 FCS conferences participate in the voting.
