Bison Lead the Pack in the Coaches Poll

 

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- North Dakota State took over the No.1 spot in the FCS Coaches Poll from Montana this week by garnering eight first place votes and 664 points.  North Dakota State beat UC Davis 35-16 to keep their record blemish- free.

 

Also receiving first place votes were Montana in second with 15 votes and 646 points and Massachusetts in fourth with four votes and 602 points and McNeese State in seventh with one first place vote and 541 points.  Northern Iowa, Appalachian State, Southern Illinois, Wofford, James Madison and Hofstra round out the top 10.

 

The Colonial Athletic Association has six teams in the top 25 while the Gateway Conference in close behind with four and the Southern Conference with three.  Four conferences have two teams ranked and four conferences have one team in the poll.

 

FCS Coaches Poll is based exclusively on a voting panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).

 

The poll is available on the newly-created FCS web page that features the poll, conference scores and standings, and features on FCS programs and players. The Southern Conference oversees the poll and maintains the web site.
