North Dakota State Remains No.1

 

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- North Dakota State retained its No.1 ranking in the FCS Coaches Poll after it beat Mississippi Valley State, 58-7, to move its record to 6-0.  North Dakota State received 12 first place votes and 669 points.

 

Also receiving first place votes were Northern Iowa with one first place vote and 653 votes in second and Montana in third with 12 first place votes and 650 points.  Massachusetts in fourth received two first place votes and 614 points and McNeese State tied for sixth received one first place vote and 544 points.  Appalachian State, Wofford, James Madison, Hofstra and Southern Illinois round out the top 10.

 

The Colonial Athletic Association boasted six teams in the top 25 while the Gateway Conference has four and the Big Sky with three.  Five conferences have two teams ranked and three conferences have one team in the poll.

 

FCS Coaches Poll is based exclusively on a voting panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).

 

The poll is available on the newly-created FCS web page that features the poll, conference scores and standings, and features on FCS programs and players. The Southern Conference oversees the poll and maintains the web site.
