Upper Echelon of FCS Stays Put

 

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The scenery in the top five in the FCS Coaches Poll remains unchanged.  North Dakota State is ranked No.1 with an 8-0 record.  The Bison pounded Southern Utah, 52-17, to garner 16 first place votes and 686 points.

 

Also receiving first place votes were Northern Iowa, with six first place vote and 665 votes in second, and Montana in third with four first place votes and 631 points.  Massachusetts, in fourth, received two first place votes and 626 points.  McNeese State, Southern Illinois, Delaware, New Hampshire, Appalachian State and Wofford round out the top 10.

 

The Colonial Athletic Association has seven teams ranked in the top 25, while the Gateway and the Southern Conference each have four.  Three conferences have two ranked and four conferences have one.

 

FCS Coaches Poll is based exclusively on a voting panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).

 

The poll is available on the newly-created FCS web page that features the poll, conference scores and standings, and features on FCS programs and players. The Southern Conference oversees the poll and maintains the web site.
